Dhyana Yoga meditation for soul awakening. Dhyana Yoga meditation - Human life is a priceless gift of God. The Lord does not have a greater gift than this to give his beloved creatures. Its specialties and potentials are so extraordinary that its results can only amaze us. This gift has been given to us to fulfill divine goals.   But it is our ill-fate that we have forgotten our divine nature, God’s gift, and the goal/ importance of human life. Neither do we know our divine potential, nor the Lord’s goal, wisdom, or meditation. We are straying far away in this dark, gloomy world.  This forgetfulness is strange.   People generally forget objects and also what they have read, heard, etc. A person whom we had known in the past is now a stranger to us since we have forgotten him. But it is rare to find a person who forgets himself.  We think of ourselves to be a body with name and form. We desire what our mind desires, we look upon the body’s needs as our own need. The body and mind are t

Nine Things You Should Know About Yoga for Children

Image
Yoga - Here are some guidelines and realistic expectations for parents, who are considering Yoga for their children. For your child, Yoga is much more than a kid's fitness class. Just like adults -- kids need time to learn to deal with life's daily pressures, too. Make sure your child starts with easy postures, and be patient with your child's progress. Some beginner children can often be more flexible than advanced adult Yoga practitioners, but they don’t know their own limitations. Discover your child's real passions. When your child wants to go to Yoga class, it is much better than what you want for your child. This is not to say that you should avoid guidance.  However, it is not advisable to push a child into a Yoga class, if your child doesn't enjoy it -- no matter how popular Yoga may be. All children are different, and what is good for one of your children, may not agree with another. Encourage your child to see the deeper benefits of Yoga: Learning to live

Ashtanga Yoga Is it right for you?

Ashtanga Yoga -is the type of yoga that was urbanized and founded by K. Pattabhi Jois. This kind of yoga is known as the Eight Limb Yoga which has revolved around Pattanjali's massive idea.  It presented that the path of purification is made up of the eight spiritual practices. The first four limbs that represent Ashtanga Yoga are - Yama, niyama, Asana, and the Pranayama. These are considered cleansing practices which are externally correctable.  The other set of limbs which are the - pratyahara, dhyana, dharana are the internal practices.  These limbs can only be corrected by the appropriate application of the Ashtanga Yoga method. This type of yoga method is quite dangerous to the mind.  K. Pattabhi Jois said that practicing these Eight Limbs and also its sub-limbs of the external practices which include the niyama and yama is not possible.  In doing so, the body should be strong enough so that it can perform the practices. Benefit of Yoga  The practice of Yoga brings with it many physical and emotional benefits that the majority of people are unaware of. This article is quite long, so we have broken it up into two parts.   The first part is an introduction to Yoga and a overview of the major physical and psychological benefits of Yoga, while the second part shows how practicing yoga daily can have a profound effect on your ability to create a healthy lifestyle for yourself.  Yoga is a science; and indeed, in many places in the world (such as India), it is referred to as a science. This is not merely playing with words; it truly is approached as a science, which means that it is understood in terms of scientific methods.  Yogic science seeks to verify cause and effect, and build principles based upon objective observations. Building stronger arms through Yoga

Image
yoga I was at work the other day and a co-worker of mine who takes Yoga classes suddenly started pumping a 20 pound dumbbell he had nestled in his cubicle. Being that he does this rather frequently, I asked why and his response was “Oh, my yoga classes don’t do anything for my arms.” I looked at him puzzled and luckily for me, I had a draft of a book with photos of some yoga balancing poses and asked him if he had tried or even knew of them. Surprisingly, he said no and was now eager for me to demonstrate them to him. This made me wonder, just how many other yoga enthusiasts are of the mindset that Yoga may be inadequate for building arm strength. If you are such a person, nothing could be further from the truth.  Yoga is fantastic for building strength in the arms and although you may never see your biceps bulge through your T-shirt sleeves, I will say you will see an increase in arm strength and endurance that may not occur in perhaps other forms of exercise. Moreover, some basic Cal

And you thought Yoga Was Just Stretching.

And you thought Yoga Was Just Stretching. Yoga Was Just Stretching - What was once ridiculed as a bizarre fad is today seen as a basic skill and many people who looked upon Yoga as a stunt or physical regimen set aside for only the flexible have now accepted it as a way of life.  With its combination of poses, breathing exercises, and principles, Yoga, my friends are way more than just a stretching routine. While on the way to spot a friend of mine at the local YMCA, he asked why I didn’t just join the gym and I explained to him that I practice Yoga and occasional calisthenics at home for my exercises and really didn’t feel the need for a gym membership. His response was predictable: “Yoga…isn’t that just stretching?” I smirked at the familiarity of the question and proceeded to explain to him the theme of this article. As I told him and for those who may not know otherwise: No, Yoga is way more than just stretching or getting into supposedly awkward-looking poses and positions. It is
